When we first met with Drew, we explained to him what things were important to us in a new house, as well as how it had to fit in, without melding into its surroundings. Drew left the meeting to contemplate how to combine our needs and wants, while maximising the special location.

The next time we met, we were immediately impressed how pH+ had approached the project with an open mind and had considered our stated requirements. Much discussion followed, eventually settling on a design that captured our needs including that the home be comfortable, low maintenance, with plenty of natural light and ventilation, environmentally conscious and accessible. pH+ proposed solutions for all aspects of the design. In our previous engagements with architects, we had never had such attention to even the finest detail of hardware fittings, lighting and tapware.

There was always a healthy tension between the architect’s search for aesthetic “perfection” countered by our requirement that function was No.1 priority. The build brought another revelation – the trust that quickly developed between builder and architect. We had never experienced this previously.

We’ve now been in the house for more than a year and we are still awestruck by how comfortable it is to live in, how beautifully it sits on the site and how it satisfies our dreams for a forever home.
